About Grace in Care Dementia Support in Adelaide

A family-led dementia service built on experience

Grace in Care is a family-led service founded by Carrol and Jody, who have worked together in nursing and aged care for more than 30 years.

Throughout our careers, we've supported older adults and families across aged care, acute care, community health, disability services, palliative care, and dementia support. This breadth of experience has shaped a deep understanding of how dementia affects individuals, families, and care teams in different settings.

Recognising that families living with dementia often needed more time, guidance, and understanding than traditional appointments could offer, we created Grace in Care. Our goal was to provide calm, Registered Nurse-led (RN), person-centred dementia support that allows space for questions, explanation, and ongoing guidance as needs change.

We built Grace in Care to support families not just at one point in time, but throughout the evolving journey of dementia care.

About Grace in Care Dementia Support in Adelaide

Why Grace in Care exists

Grace in Care was created in response to the families who shaped us — our mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers — whose ageing journeys taught us compassion, patience, and dignity.

Through our own loved ones, we learned that dementia affects the whole family, that people need time and understanding, and that dignity and connection must always come first. These experiences continue to guide how we support individuals, families, and care teams across Adelaide and beyond.

We exist to honour our families by caring for yours.

Clinical foundations and ongoing learning

We're grounded in strong clinical foundations, led by Registered Nurses and a Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in dementia and older person care.

Carrol has undertaken formal university study in dementia care, ensuring her practice is informed by current research, clinical knowledge, and best practice dementia education. Her work as a Dementia Nurse Educator strengthens our ability to support Adelaide families with informed, thoughtful guidance.

Jody later completed postgraduate study in gerontological nursing and became a Nurse Practitioner. Her advanced clinical training adds depth to our consultation and planning services, particularly when supporting complex needs, assessments, and care coordination.

Ongoing learning and professional development remain central to how we operate, ensuring our support is informed, current, and delivered with care, confidence, and respect.

Our approach to dementia care

Dementia care is not only about managing symptoms. It's about understanding the person, supporting relationships, and responding with patience and compassion as needs change.

We take a person-centred approach that recognises each individual's history, preferences, and strengths. We take time to truly listen, explain things clearly, and support families in a way that feels respectful and unhurried.

Our approach supports people living with dementia alongside their families and carers, because we know that care decisions affect everyone involved. By offering calm guidance, practical insight, and consistent support, we help Adelaide families navigate change with greater confidence and reassurance.
